James R. Shiely, born in Minnesota in 1860 of Irish parents, was Butler-Ryan's teamster subcontractor for moving the marble from the depot to the Capitol site. He was a founding member of Teamsters Local 120.  His son James founded the J.L. Shiely Co, a large cement and gravel company, now called Agregate Industries.

“James Shiely hauled, among other heavy commodities, the marble used in the construction of the Minnesota state capitol; and did many subcontracts for the railroad and other contractors. He was scrupulously honest and a hard worker.”  Source: The Shiely Story: American Builders, Pepperdine College Press, George Pepperdine College, Robert O. Young, Editor.
