Thomas Gibney

1898 City Directory. Thomas Gibney and John Gibney both lived here. Thomas Gibney was born in Ireland in about 1870 and emigrated in 1886. He was an activist in the Stone Cutters Union. Many other itinerant stone cutters lived at this address during the Capitol construction.

Cass Gilbert

Occupation: 

(Heather Drive was called Floral Drive when Cass Gilbert lived here.) Gilbert was the architect of the Capitol and had grown up in St. Paul. By 1900 he had moved to New York City where he spent the rest of his life.

Jacob Gondek

Occupation: 

Dale and Bumgardner Payroll, 1905 Butler Bros. Payroll, 1904 St. Paul City Directory and 1900 Census. Jacob Gondak was born in Poland in 1849 and emigrated in 1868. He worked as a laborer for Dale and Bumgardner.

Stanislav Gondek

Occupation: 

Dale and Bumgardner Payroll, 1905 Butler Bros. Payroll, 1904 St. Paul City Directory and 1900 Census. Jacob's son, Stanislav Gondek, (1883-1923?), was born in Minnesota in 1883. He worked as a laborer on the Capitol and later became a carpenter. By 1918 he had changed his name to Stanley.

Eva Good

Occupation: 

Staff Payroll February 1906. Eva Good was 18 years old in 1906 and got hired as a telephone operator at the new Capitol. She worked at that occupation for many years and was still living in St. Paul, single, and working as an operator at a bank in 1940.
