Simon W. Shiely

Young Simon Shiely was 17 when started his career as a bricklayer at the Capitol. He was 3rd generation Irish, born in Minnesota in 1883 and he lived in this house with his parents and their large family for many years. He married and raised a family in St. Paul working as a bricklayer. Shiely was honored in 1957 for being a 55 year member of Bricklayers Local 1. He died here in 1961 at the age of 78.

William Sier

Occupation: 

1902 Beam painting payroll. William Sier was born in Canada in 1863 and came to Minnesota in 1900. He worked as a laborer on a crew scraping steel beams in preparation for painting.
