Carl Tingquist (1887-1990), immigrated from Sweden aboard the HMS Caronia in early 1905 as Carl Gustafson. He changed hs name to Tingquist, since so many incoming Swedes were already “sons” or “sens” and heard many “Quists” so took his home town in Sweden (Tyngsrud) and added a “quist” to it – Tingquist.
1905 Payroll,1902 and 1905 St. Paul City Directory. Simon (listed in some records as "Swan") Tollefson (1869-1926) was born in Sweden and emigrated in 1887. He first worked as a laborer at the Capitol in 1902. He continued to work as a laborer in construction, raised his family on the East Side of St. Paul and died here in 1926.
1897 Grant Payroll and 1900 Census. John Toner worked for George Grant on the Capitol. He was born in Connecticut in 1852 and came to Minnesota in 1880.

He joined the Tilelayers Union on August 3,1900 according to a report in the St. Paul Globe. He is found in San Francisco in the 1910 Census working in a marble yard.
Dale and Bumgardner Payroll. Joseph Tschida was born in Austro-Hungary in 1881 and emigrated with his parents in 1887. He eventually got a job with the Great Northern Railroad and he and his wife raised a large family in St. Paul.
