1904 City Directory. Andrew Johnson worked on the Capitol as a blacksmith.
1902 City Directory. This Charles Johnson worked as a laborer on the Capitol and should not be confused with the other Charles Johnson who was a carpenter and foreman on the job. He lived at 417 N. Franklin Street, a location now covered by the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in downtown in St. Paul. (Community Walk map worker/address #261)
Saint Paul City Directory and Census. Charles Johnson was born in Sweden in 1845 and emigrated in 1872. He was first hired at the Capitol in 1899 as a carpenter and worked there in 1900 as an iron worker. He became a foreman and was a member of Carpenters Local 87. He lived at this address into the 1920's.
1899 City Directory. Charles F. and William H. Johnson worked as laborers on the Capitol.
1899-1901 St. Paul City Directories. Coy Johnson was one of a number of African-American stone workers who moved from Georgia to St. Paul to work on the Capitol construction. He worked as a laborer on the building from 1899 to 1905. He was born in Georgia in 1870 and apparently left St. Paul shortly after the completion of the Capitol.

1904-1905 Butler Bros. Payroll. Hans Johnson was paid as a laborer in 1905, though in the 1902 City Directory he claimed to be working for Butler-Ryan as a "cutter." Ernest Peterson also lived here in 1902.
