William A. King was born in Ohio in 1858 of German parents. He moved with his family to Minnesota in 1880 and lived in Minneapolis when he worked on the Capitol as a "tuck pointer." He worked for many years as a bricklayer in Minneapolis and raised a large family there.
William Knudsen (1859-1914) was born in Norway and came to America in 1882. He worked as a carpenter on the Capitol and his tool box and tools, donated by his descendants, are now in the collection of the Minnesota Historical Society. He and his wife, Bertha, raised a large family in St. Paul and died there in 1914 at the age of 54.
1905 Payroll, 1899-1905 St. Paul City Directory and Census. Andrew Knutson was born in Sweden in 1854 and emigrated in 1872. He worked on the Capitol as a laborer in 1899, is in the 1905 Payroll records, and got on as a janitor when the construction was completed. He was still a janitor there in 1920.
1903 City Directory. John Korsvald worked on the Capitol as a laborer.
John Kuettel was born in Switzerland in 1856 and emigrated in 1882. He worked for many years as a stone cutter in St. Paul raising his family here. John married Katherine Youngman. They had five children, Wilhelmina, John, Charles, Alfred and Rose.
Kuettel was active in the Union and served as a delegate to the St. Paul Trades and Labor Assembly in 1901. He eventually bought a farm in West St. Paul and moved there.
Dale and Bumgardner payroll. Casper Kundert worked as a laborer grading the Capitol grounds. He was born in Germany in 1857.
Clemens Kuschke (1853-1933)was born in Germany and emigrated in 1868. He raised his large family at this fine brick house while working as a bricklayer.
Henry Kuschke born in 1880, started working on the Capitol, also as a bricklayer, in 1900.
Joseph Brown and Pietro Carceno as well as Laguillo lived here and were evidently brought in to work on the Guastavino tile.
August Lander was born in Minnesota to German parents in 1882. He was only 15 when he worked as a laborer on the Capitol in 1898.
